The 14th Mechanised Brigade is investigating supply issues; the brigade commander has been relieved of his post
A joint commission of the Army is conducting an investigation into the situation within the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff noted that systematic air and missile strikes by Russian forces on crossings over the Oskil River have significantly complicated logistical support for Defence Forces units in the Kupiansk area. Logistics in this sector are being provided using vessels and heavy drones.
The command is taking measures to strengthen air defence and anti-drone protection in this sector. The electronic warfare system is also being reinforced.
Meanwhile, the General Staff stated that the previous command of the 14th Mechanised Brigade had concealed the true state of affairs. They also reported the loss of a number of positions and a series of miscalculations regarding the provision of supplies to servicemen. In particular, a problem with food supplies to one of the brigade’s positions was identified.
Personnel decisions have been taken to rectify the situation. The commander of the 14th Mechanised Brigade has been relieved of his post. The commander of the 10th Army Corps has been dismissed from his post and reassigned to a lower rank.
Colonel Taras Maksimov has been appointed commander of the 14th Mechanised Brigade. The 10th Army Corps is now headed by Brigadier General Artem Bogomolov.
Following the appointment of the new commanders, an investigation was launched by a joint commission of the Land Forces, as decided by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
An internal investigation into officials of the 14th Mechanised Brigade is currently being finalised. Based on its findings, management decisions are to be made, and the materials will be forwarded to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.
The General Staff emphasised that the new brigade and corps command is taking measures to normalise the situation and ensure the supply of troops in combat positions.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has also tasked the Commander of the Joint Forces Group, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, with verifying the comprehensive provision of supplies to servicemen carrying out tasks on the front line. The 10th Army Corps is under his command.
The General Staff added that another consignment of food supplies had recently been delivered to one of the positions of the 14th Mechanised Brigade. Should conditions permit, the troops will be evacuated immediately.
Earlier, reports emerged in the media regarding the situation surrounding soldiers from the 14th Brigade’s 2nd Mechanised Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who are serving in the Kharkiv sector. According to their relatives, the soldiers have allegedly been enduring difficult conditions for a long time, and there is a systematic shortage of food and drinking water at their positions.
