A laboratory has opened in Japan where medical experiments are carried out by robots
This is reported by the Japanese news agency Kyodo News.
There are currently ten robots working at the Robotics Innovation Centre, including the humanoid model Maholo LabDroid. There are no humans in the laboratory — all key processes are carried out by machines.
The robots are equipped with two arms, enabling them to carry reagents, open temperature-controlled equipment and work with samples. The system also already performs cell culture automatically. Note
The reproduction of cells outside their natural environment.
The university plans to increase the number of robots to around 2,000 by 2040 and integrate them with artificial intelligence systems. It is expected that they will be able to independently carry out almost all stages of scientific research — from formulating hypotheses to verifying experimental results.
The Maholo LabDroid robot is already in use at an ophthalmology hospital in Kobe. There, it assists with clinical research involving stem cells, specifically focusing on cell culture.
