A new round of talks between Zelenskyy and the US delegation starts in Berlin
A new stage of negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations began in the German capital on 15 December. The Ukrainian side is headed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while the American side is represented by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The talks were a continuation of the meetings held the day before. On 14 December, the delegations talked for more than five hours. According to Witkoff, the parties managed to make tangible progress, after which it was decided to continue the dialogue the next day.
The discussions are focused on the parameters of the peace plan and security guarantees for Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian delegation, the talks are being held in a closed format.
Consultations with a number of European leaders are also expected to take place in Berlin. Among them are French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the heads of the governments of Italy and the Netherlands, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. The format of the meetings may be expanded depending on the progress of the negotiations.
