The main New Year trees lit up in Kyiv and Lviv
Having created a festive atmosphere, Kyiv and Lviv unveiled their main New Year trees. In the capital, a 16-meter artificial Christmas tree with 4,500 decorations — garlands and toys — was lit up in Sophia Square, with a design inspired by the frescoes of Sophia Square. The initiative was implemented without budget funds — with the support of patrons.
Meanwhile, in Lviv, in front of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Opera Theater, a 14-meter Christmas tree was installed — it was a gift from a family from the village of Sokolnyky. The tree grew on their yard for 18 years. The decorations are from last year, and no new expenses for illumination were planned.
According to locals, this year in Lviv, a record number of families wanted to donate a Christmas tree — 15 families submitted applications. But they settled on this one, choosing it as the "most magnificent and beautiful".
The festive New Year trees in both cities symbolize hope, support of the spirit, and festive mood — especially important during wartime.
