On the eve of Easter, a new national record was set at the Lviv Palace of Arts: 1,720 participants created Easter eggs simultaneously. The record brought together city residents, students, cadets and visitors around an ancient tradition and an important charitable cause

This was reported by the Lviv branch of the NGO ‘Defence of the State’.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with warmth and vibrant energy. Hundreds of people took part in the joint activity: from schoolchildren to foreign guests. The result was an officially recorded Ukrainian record — 1,720 pysanky created at the same time. Each pattern became a symbol of the inner strength and unity of people creating together.

Charity mission: helping little Bohdan

In addition to its cultural aspect, the event had a significant social aim — to help 7-year-old Bohdan Ilkiv, who has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Whilst the pysanky were being created, funds were being raised for his treatment.

“We wanted to bring people together around a Ukrainian tradition and, at the same time, give everyone the chance to take a concrete step — to help a child. When hundreds of people act together, that is already a force,” noted Oleksandr Labetskyi, head of the Lviv branch of the NGO “Protection of the State”.

The organisers emphasise that true meaning is found where there is action and a sincere desire to support those who need it most.
