In Poland, a drunk police officer threatened a Ukrainian taxi driver
This was reported by RMF24. According to the publication, on the night from Friday to Saturday (from July 25 to 26), police officers were called to a gas station on Kelecka Street in the city of Radom.
"It was about insults and threats of a criminal nature from a drunk taxi passenger towards the driver - a citizen of Ukraine," - said Junior Inspector Dorota Wyatr-Kurjava.
Later, it was revealed that the Ukrainian was threatened by a 39-year-old officer of the Central Police Investigation Bureau - an experienced police officer with 19 years of service. Law enforcement officials established that the threats and insults towards the Ukrainian citizen had a nationalist undertone.
The police officer was held in a temporary detention facility until sobriety. Later, he was charged with criminal threats. Radom prosecutor Aneta Guz reported that a preventive measure unrelated to detention has been applied to the suspect.
For threatening the Ukrainian, the police officer could now face up to 3 years in prison. However, charges may be expanded due to the nationalist undertone of the threats.
Following this incident, the Central Police Investigation Bureau initiated an internal review.
"We are awaiting the results of the prosecutor's work. Their findings will determine the further development of our case. Initially, an explanatory proceeding will be initiated, which will most likely develop into a disciplinary one," - said the spokesperson for the head of the Central Police Investigation Bureau, Deputy Commissioner Krzysztof Wzresnowski.
