Criminal charges to be filed against Fico in Slovakia over Ukraine
This was reported by The Public, citing a statement by the SaS party.
Slovak MP Karol Halek said that the prime minister's decision means opening a new front against Ukraine. According to him, the cessation of humanitarian electricity supplies could have consequences for critical infrastructure, including hospitals that provide assistance to those wounded in Russia's war against Ukraine.
SaS leader Branislav Gróling said that the criminal complaints concern possible abuse of office, treason, inhumane treatment, terrorist acts and breach of duties in the management of property.
Representatives of the opposition party held a press conference outside the Slovak Prosecutor General's Office.
Prime Minister Robert Fico decided to stop humanitarian electricity supplies after the suspension of Russian oil transportation through the Druzhba pipeline. According to him, the resumption of supplies is being delayed due to Ukraine's actions.
At the same time, the Ukrainian energy company Ukrenergo reported that humanitarian electricity from Slovakia was last used more than a month ago. Commercial electricity supplies between Slovakia and Ukraine continue.
