On Monday, the Akron chemical plant was attacked in the Russian city of Veliky Novgorod. This is evidenced by the results of OSINT analysis by the Astra Telegram channel.

In the morning, the governor of the Novgorod region, Alexander Dronov, reported the alleged shooting down of eight drones over the region.

At the same time, local residents released videos and photos of the attack on the Akron chemical plant in Veliky Novgorod.

One of the published photos, taken approximately 6–6.5 kilometres from the plant, shows a fire on the territory of PJSC Acron. This was confirmed by an Astra analyst.

Akron is a manufacturer of mineral fertilisers and industrial products. The company's official website states that the plant produces a wide range of nitrogen and complex fertilisers, as well as industrial products.

The company's products include ammonium nitrate, whose components can be used in the civil and military sectors.

The Akron plant has been attacked before. In December 2025, according to Astra sources, five workshops at the plant were suspended after the strikes.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that 163 drones were allegedly shot down and intercepted on Monday night, according to the Russian service of the BBC.

According to the ministry, 54 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, 16 drones over the Krasnodar region, 11 drones over the Kaluga region, 8 UAVs over the Novgorod region, and 5 drones over the Belgorod region.

In addition, drones were allegedly shot down over the Smolensk, Voronezh, Rostov, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Oryol, and Tver regions of the Russian Federation, as well as over the Republic of Adygea and the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
