A judge is to stand trial in Kharkiv for hitting two teenagers on a pedestrian crossing
Staff at the State Bureau of Investigations have concluded a pre-trial investigation into a judge at one of the district courts in the Kharkiv region. The case concerns a road traffic accident in which two teenagers were injured.
The indictment has already been sent to court.
The accident occurred on 18 December 2025 in Kharkiv. The driver of the car struck two girls aged 13 and 14 who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.
As a result of the accident, both teenagers sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalised. One of the victims has already been discharged from hospital, whilst the other remains under medical supervision.
Investigative measures and expert examinations were carried out as part of the investigation. The evidence gathered made it possible to establish the circumstances of the accident.
According to the experts’ findings, the driver had the technical ability to avoid the collision but failed to do so.
The judge is charged with violating road safety regulations, resulting in serious bodily harm to the victims, under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This article provides for a sentence of up to 8 years’ imprisonment.
