Scientists warned of a massive blackout on Earth
Scientists warned of the possibility of a large-scale blackout on Earth due to solar flares.

Yes, Earth may be hit by a powerful cosmic radiation storm caused by intense solar flares. The latest one occurred on May 14, leading to communication disruptions in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as power outages in the eastern United States. This is reported by Bild.

NASA and other agencies have warned about the possibility of new solar radiation emissions in the coming days.

The United States has already practiced disaster scenarios. In particular, in May 2024, within the framework of the "Solar Storm Emergency Drill," they modeled potential consequences of a superstorm: from a week-long power outage in the eastern US to failures in pipelines and railways.

Moreover, experts call for the development of national protection strategies and the expansion of satellite monitoring of solar activity.

Earlier, an international group of scientists published forecasts for the planet: life on Earth will ultimately disappear in nearly a billion years due to irreversible changes caused by the Sun.
