In April, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) detained a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz with four Ukrainians on board — they were successfully returned home.

This was announced by Georgiy Tykhyi, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in comments to journalists.

The Ukrainian citizens were members of the crew of the vessel Epimonidas. Since their detention, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – in particular the Consular Service Department – and the Ukrainian Embassy in Greece have been in contact with the citizens’ families, the Greek ship-owning company and the parties involved.

The Ukrainians have now been returned home from Iran and are currently safe with their families. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that they are in good health.
