Ukraine is set to receive nearly $500 million from the World Bank for healthcare reform
This has been reported by the Ministry of Health.
New agreements on expanding the project’s budget were reached during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026). As a result, the total funding for the initiative will rise to nearly $900 million.
The main donor to the programme is the Japanese government, whose contribution accounts for more than three-quarters of the total funding for THRIVE.
The funds received will be channelled towards improving the Medical Guarantees Programme, developing strategic procurement and optimising the use of budgetary resources.
The main aim of this financial support is to modernise Ukrainian hospitals and continue key reforms in the healthcare sector. Ultimately, this should significantly enhance the capacity of domestic healthcare facilities and ensure citizens have greater access to high-quality services.
