Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Belarusian companies and Lukashenko’s inner circle
This was announced by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine regarding new sanctions.
Restrictions have been imposed on Belarusian companies for their complicity with Russia in the armed aggression against Ukraine.
Sanctions have also been applied to individuals close to the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
“This is a signal to many of our partners about where to apply pressure in order to reduce the scale of this war and its intensity. Russia lacks goodwill; it must be compelled to take the necessary steps to reduce aggression, and let them call these their ‘gestures of goodwill’ afterwards. Belarus must not be dragged into the war. There must be no operations against other European countries. There must be a dignified peace in this war between Russia and Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated.
The sanctions package includes 16 Belarusian citizens and 11 legal entities.
Among them are Belarusian enterprises that manufacture 122 mm and 152 mm artillery shells for the Russian occupiers.
In particular, sanctions have been imposed on the companies “Olsa”, the Minsk-based “Termoplast” plant and the Kovalsky Heavy Stamping Plant.
According to the Ukrainian side, these enterprises manufacture components for shells.
The Republican Unitary Production Enterprise “IK 9”, which manufactures packaging for shells, has also been subject to restrictions.
Sanctions have also been imposed on “NefteKhimDiagnostika”, where, according to the Office of the President, ammunition is tested.
Restrictions have been imposed on the Vitebsk Electrical Measuring Instruments Plant.
This enterprise supplies equipment for the repair and modernisation of Russian armoured vehicles.
Sanctions have also been imposed on the company “Radiotechnika”, which manufactures components for the occupiers’ military equipment.
In addition, a factory that repairs Russian aircraft, specifically the Tu, Yak and Il families, has been sanctioned.
Among the individuals on the sanctions list is Viktor Sheiman, a close associate of Alexander Lukashenko.
He has held high-ranking government posts in Belarus for many years.
According to Ukrainian sources, Sheiman carries out Lukashenko’s orders, conducts intergovernmental negotiations and establishes shadowy business ties.
He is also said to be involved in organising “death squads” that targeted opposition politicians, activists and public figures.
Furthermore, Sheiman is considered one of the organisers of schemes to circumvent the sanctions that Ukraine and its partner states have imposed on Russian and Belarusian companies.
Viktor Sheiman is already subject to sanctions imposed by the US, the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Canada.
Sanctions have also been imposed on Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko – the sons of Belarus’s self-proclaimed president.
According to Ukrainian sources, they are involved in the export of goods in circumvention of international sanctions, the supply of dual-use goods and re-export via Belarusian territory.
As reported by ThePublic, the Trump administration is considering inviting Lukashenko to the US
