Since the start of the war, Ukraine has increased the range of its strikes against Russia by 170%
This is stated in a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
In 2022, Tu-95 bombers were struck at the Engels-2 airbase in the Saratov region, located 650 km away.
In 2024, the strike range of Ukrainian drones increased to 1,200 km – the ‘Shahed’ production plant in Alabuga came under attack. That same year, drones reached the ‘Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat’ oil refinery, 1,500 km from the border.
This year, a record distance for Ukrainian drones was set – 1,750 km. They struck the Ukhta oil refinery in the Komi Republic.

“This March alone, our drones struck five strategic plants and ten Russian oil refining facilities. The geographical scope of operations ranges from occupied Crimea to the Leningrad Oblast,” the Ministry of Defence stated.
The ministry emphasised that long-range strikes are not merely a demonstration of capabilities, but a means of depriving the aggressor state of the resources needed to launch an offensive and continue the war.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that a continuous line of defence is being built in Ukraine stretching from the Kyiv Reservoir to Sumy.
