On the night of Sunday, 29 March, Ukraine will switch to daylight saving time.

At 3 a.m. Kyiv time, clocks will be set forward one hour to 4 a.m.

Seasonal time change has been in effect in Ukraine for over forty years. Clocks are changed twice a year, on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.

This system was first introduced in 1981, when daylight saving time began to be used in the USSR. In independent Ukraine, the procedure for using summer and winter time was unified in the 1990s. To this end, Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 509 "On the Procedure for Calculating Time in Ukraine" was adopted on 13 May 1996.

In July 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law abolishing seasonal time changes and leaving only winter time in Ukraine. The decision was supported by 261 MPs.

In August of the same year, the law was sent to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for signature, but he did not sign it.

Doctors note that in the first week after the clock change, it is worth limiting physical and mental exertion. During this period, the body adapts to the new regime, so it is recommended to help the nervous system with a morning contrast shower.

For people with chronic diseases, as well as those with high blood pressure, doctors advise paying closer attention to their well-being for two to three weeks.

Experts also remind us of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. One of the easiest ways to avoid fatigue is to get a good night's sleep.

In the period after the time change, it is recommended to go to bed about an hour and a half earlier, spend more time outdoors, and not give up walks before bedtime.

Due to the additional stress on the body, doctors recommend limiting the consumption of coffee, black tea, and alcoholic beverages. Instead, they suggest giving preference to green or herbal tea.

Doctors also draw attention to diet. In spring, the body often experiences a lack of vitamins, so it is recommended to consume up to 400 grams of vegetables and fruits during the day.
