Drones in Ukraine
In March 2026, for the first time since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine launched more attack drones at targets on Russian territory than Russian forces had launched against Ukraine.

This was reported by ABC, which analysed daily reports from the Ukrainian Air Force and the Russian Ministry of Defence.

According to Russian statistics, 7,347 Ukrainian drones were shot down by air defence systems in March — an average of 237 per day. This is the highest monthly figure of the entire war.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported 6,462 Russian drones attacking the country during the same period — an average of 208 per day.

The total number of missiles and UAVs launched by Russia at Ukraine in March 2026 also reached a record high.

The most intense Russian strike took place on the 24th, when the occupiers deployed 948 drones and 34 missiles.

However, ABC notes that Kyiv’s long-term efforts to develop its own production of unmanned systems and missiles are beginning to bear fruit, and the balance of power in this sphere is gradually shifting in Ukraine’s favour.

Ukrainian defence forces have launched a series of strikes against Russian energy infrastructure, notably the Baltic ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk, through which a significant portion of oil exports passes.

Dozens of fuel storage tanks have been damaged, which, according to traders’ estimates, will force Russia to cut shipments and could lead to a reduction in production.
