Ukrainian delegation to hold talks with US in Miami on 17 January
On Saturday, 17 January, negotiations between Ukrainian and US delegations will take place in Miami with the participation of NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov, and Head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction Davyd Arakhamia. This was announced on 16 January by Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Olga Stefanishyna on Facebook.
According to her, the parties are continuing active consultations on the future security architecture and long-term economic development of Ukraine. Work is currently underway on two key documents. These are agreements on security guarantees and economic prosperity with a total potential volume of up to $800 billion. Their signing may be discussed at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The purpose of the Ukrainian delegation's trip is to finalise these agreements with American partners so that they best serve Ukraine's national interests. The ambassador stressed that the talks in Miami are an important step in preparing for next week's international meetings.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the delegation is already on its way to the United States. In his evening address, he noted that intensive preparation of documents for the meetings in Davos is currently underway, as Ukraine needs not formal negotiations, but concrete results concerning peace, security and economic development.
This year's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, will take place from 19 to 23 January. Ukraine will be represented at the event by a high-level delegation, and contacts with the American side are also planned.
