Ukrainian music has made a big splash in Europe: the solo project Carpetman has received a prestigious award, opening up new opportunities for an international career.

Ukrainian singer Carpetman won the European music award Music Moves Europe Awards (MME Awards) 2026. This was announced by the artist's label Enko on its Instagram page.

The award ceremony took place on 15 January 2026 as part of the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, Netherlands. The winners were selected from among 15 European performers nominated earlier during the SoAlive music conference, which took place in October 2025 in Sofia.

Carpetman is a Ukrainian musician who was previously a member of the Kalush Orchestra, winner of Eurovision 2022. In 2023, he began his solo career, creating music and lyrics independently. The artist's trademark is his stage choreography and image with costumes inspired by carpet patterns, which preserve his anonymity.

Carpetman currently has over 1.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His most popular track, Feel So Cold, has garnered over 25 million plays on the platform and more than 37 million views on YouTube.

The Music Moves Europe Awards is an annual award that supports promising European artists and promotes their international careers. Artists are selected based on their success outside their home country, their presence on European radio, and their participation in the ETEP talent exchange programme.

This is not the first time Ukrainian musicians have received this award: Alyona Alyona, Alina Pash and Jerry Heil have been MME Award winners in previous years.
