Ukrzaliznytsia has warned of a shortage of tickets this summer
This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia’s press office on Facebook.
Ukrzaliznytsia has warned of a rise in demand for tickets during the summer season. The company stated that it has already entered the peak period of 2026.
According to the carrier, Ukrzaliznytsia receives around 340,000 ticket enquiries daily and transports approximately 80,000 people. Currently, this equates to around four applicants for every seat.
The company predicts that competition for tickets will continue to grow. On peak dates, as many as 6–7 passengers may be vying for a single ticket.
Demand for tickets in summer
The summer season is traditionally one of the most challenging for rail transport. During this period, there is an increase in the number of trips for holidays, domestic tourism, as well as the transport of school groups and military personnel.
During the first week of summer, 472,873 passengers travelled on Ukrzaliznytsia trains. The busiest train was No. 104 Lviv–Lozova, which carried over 13,000 people.
In total, Ukrzaliznytsia expects to carry around 7 million passengers over the three summer months.
How to buy a ticket during the peak season
Ukrzaliznytsia advises passengers to plan their journeys in advance. Ticket sales open 20 days before the train’s departure date.
The company also reminds passengers of the automatic ticket purchase feature in the mobile app. Passengers can select their desired journey and date, and the system will automatically purchase a ticket as soon as it goes on sale.
Tickets for military personnel
A special ticket allocation is available for military personnel and their families. These tickets can be purchased via the “Army+” app.
Ukrzaliznytsia is also adapting its timetable to meet seasonal passenger demand. From 28 June, the company is launching an updated summer timetable.
