The government has changed the textbook provision system: what will change for schools
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The decision covers all stages — from planning to delivery of textbooks to educational institutions. In particular, specific deadlines are being introduced for competitive selection, printing and the formation of a reserve fund. This will avoid delays and ensure that schools have the necessary amount of teaching materials.
Separately, there are plans to create a reserve of textbooks for Ukrainian schools, as well as educational centres abroad where Ukrainian children study.
In addition, the government is introducing a two-year textbook planning cycle with annual testing. This approach will allow teaching materials to be checked in advance and improve their quality.
The preparation of new textbooks for grades 1 and 5 will begin this year. They will be delivered to Ukrainian schools in 2028.
The new system is expected to improve the quality of educational literature and provide sufficient time for the translation and adaptation of materials, particularly for students with special educational needs.
