The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has arrived in Kyiv on a working visit. She said that during her meetings she plans to announce new initiatives on cooperation in the defence industry.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has arrived in Kyiv. She announced her visit on the social media platform X.

According to the President of the European Commission, this is her eleventh visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.

“This is a special moment. Ukraine has gained significant military momentum. The situation is improving. I will announce new initiatives to integrate our defence sectors so that we can produce more and faster,” von der Leyen said.

She added that discussions during the visit would also cover Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and preparations for the winter period.

In addition to Ursula von der Leyen, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Janez Janša, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
