Iran has executed the head of the IRGC’s intelligence service – media reports
This was reported by the Associated Press, citing Iranian state media.
Majid Hademi took up the post in 2025. His predecessor was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Previously, Hademi headed the Intelligence Protection Organisation of the IRGC, which dealt with internal surveillance and counter-intelligence, and also held senior positions in Iran’s Ministry of Defence, writes Reuters.
The IRGC’s intelligence unit is one of Iran’s most powerful security bodies, playing a central role in domestic surveillance to counter foreign influence and often operating in parallel with the civilian Ministry of Intelligence.
In total, 25 people were killed as a result of the latest wave of US-Israeli strikes on 6 April. Tehran was among the targets.
