A flash mob has been launched in Ukraine calling for clear terms of service for military personnel
This is reported on the organisation’s website.
Due to the ban on mass protests during martial law, activists have opted for an online flash mob. The organisers stress that the lack of fixed terms of service is an issue that affects not only individual families but society as a whole.
The main visual message of the campaign is the colour blue, which symbolises loyalty to duty and hope for freedom. To support the initiative, Ukrainians are encouraged to make simple yet visible gestures: pin a blue ribbon to their clothing, hang a flag, or add a relevant sticker to their car or gadget. Online posts in support of soldiers’ rights are being shared under the hashtags #termsofservice and #righttobeexempt.
It is important to note that the campaign’s organisers are not calling for the army to be disbanded. On the contrary, the aim is to strengthen defence capabilities through a strategy of rotating troops. Relatives of military personnel are already actively joining the flash mob. The servicemen themselves, despite being unable to speak publicly due to regulations, are anonymously supporting the movement, calling it an important sign that the home front remembers their rights.
Should we expect changes from the state?
In early March, the Office of the President announced plans to transition to a contract system with clear terms and the possibility of deferment after the contract expires. At the same time, politician Boryslav Bereza expressed doubt regarding the swift implementation of these promises, noting that society may once again be offered the same old assurances without concrete results.
