On 30 May, the Church honours Saint Isakios of Dalmatia — a Christian ascetic of the 4th century. According to tradition, he lived in the Syrian desert and later arrived in Constantinople, where he urged Emperor Valens to cease the persecution of Christians. After the ruler’s death, Isaac was released from imprisonment, and his prophecy gained widespread fame among the faithful. The saint spent the last years of his life in a monastery near Constantinople, where he preached Christianity.
