Zelensky: Ukraine expects five key documents following peace talks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that following talks with the United States and European partners, Ukraine expects to prepare five documents that should form the basis of a potential peace agreement with Russia.
According to the Head of State, part of these documents will be devoted to security guarantees for Ukraine. These are legally binding decisions that must be approved by the US Congress and contain mechanisms similar to NATO Article 5. Zelenskyy emphasised that the vote in the US Congress would be a key confirmation of the reality of such guarantees.
The second major block of agreements will be post-war recovery. The President noted that the parties were already discussing financing and the creation of a special fund for reconstruction. Special attention was paid to support for internally displaced persons who have lost their homes. According to preliminary estimates, these needs may require about $70-80 billion.
Zelensky also raised the issue of financial assistance to the families of the fallen Ukrainian military. He emphasised that the state would fulfil these obligations under any circumstances, but international support would help speed up payments.
The President noted that the teams of Ukraine, the United States and Europe were working on the documents and confirmed personal communication with US President Donald Trump on further steps. According to him, the path to agreements is difficult, but possible in a relatively short time, provided that the speed and quality of decisions are combined.
