Russia has approved a programme running until 2030, which provides for the creation and expansion of ‘cyber brigades’ and ‘media patrols’ across the regions. Officially, the aim is to prevent ‘negative social phenomena’ among children and young people, but in practice, students may be enlisted to monitor the internet and report on undesirable content.
Commanders of Ukrainian Armed Forces units consider the order mandating the rotation of troops on the front line to be virtually impossible to implement. The main reason is a critical shortage of personnel in the brigades, which often struggle to make up for their losses.

Fuel prices in Ukraine are likely to rise further. Sergey Kuyun, a fuel market expert and director of the consultancy firm “A-95”, has stated that petrol and diesel prices could rise by a further 4–5 hryvnias per litre due to the situation on the global oil market and the gap between wholesale and retail prices.
Law enforcement officials have charged four members of the illegal armed groups of the “LPR” who, according to the investigation, tortured and sexually assaulted a female volunteer in the Luhansk region in 2014. One of the suspects is also accused of unlawfully seizing her car.
The European Commission has launched a call for applications for those wishing to become founding members of the new EU–Ukraine Drone Alliance. The selection process will run until 25 May, and the successful candidates will form the Alliance’s first board of directors.
Serhiy Nahorniak, a Member of Parliament for the “Servant of the People” party, has stated that Ukraine may review the number of men exempted from military service at enterprises, as Ukrainian Armed Forces units are understaffed. He also proposed that disability certificates be “reset to zero”, with the exception of documents held by those who have fought since 2014, been wounded and been granted disability status.
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Dnipro has ordered that MP Mykola Tyschenko be brought before the court by force. This decision was taken because he had failed to attend previous court hearings in the case concerning the unlawful deprivation of liberty and assault of former Kraken fighter Dmytro Mazokha.
Most recipients had the one-off targeted payment of 1,500 UAH credited to their accounts by 25 April 2026. However, some Ukrainians will receive this payment in May – specifically those whose pension or social assistance was granted immediately before 1 April.
