A 22-year-old police officer was killed in Zaporizhzhia as a result of a Russian air strike
This was reported by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Police.
He died whilst on duty
According to law enforcement officials, Dmytro Belymenko served as an operational officer with the Zaporizhzhia Regional Directorate of Strategic Investigations, part of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.
Russian troops struck civilian infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia with a guided aerial bomb. The police officer was near the epicentre of the explosion. His injuries proved fatal.
He had served in the police since 2020
Dmytro Belymenko began his service with the National Police of Ukraine in September 2020. From January 2026, he served in the regional unit of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The police noted that his colleagues will remember him as a responsible officer, a reliable colleague and a man dedicated to his work. The management and staff of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Police have expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
