A preventive measure is being imposed on the main organiser of the military exhibition in the Kyiv region that was attacked by Russia

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The Sviatoshyn District Court is determining a preventive measure for Vasyl Honcharuk, head of the ‘Armada’ gunsmiths’ association. He had previously been under guard at a medical facility, as he himself was injured in the Russian attack.

The prosecution, taking into account all the risks involved, is insisting on detention without the right to bail, the Office of the Prosecutor General stated.

Strike on a weapons exhibition in the Kyiv region: what is known

On the morning of 24 July, the Russians attacked the Kyiv region with three ‘Iskander-M’ and S-400 ballistic missiles. Air defence forces intercepted one of them, whilst the other two struck the Bucha district.

The strike hit a venue in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region where a weapons exhibition was being held. According to the investigation, this event was organised by one of the gunsmiths’ associations without the approval of the military command, military administrations or other authorised bodies.

There were approximately 300 people at the exhibition; as a result of the attack, 11 people were killed and nearly 100 more were injured. The main organiser of the event has already been charged with professional negligence. Today, the court will determine his pre-trial detention measures.

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko stated that the gunmakers’ association held the exhibition without obtaining any approval from the military command, the regional and district military administrations, and without adequate cover in the vicinity. The ‘Armada’ Association insists that the event was strictly private and that the exact location was not disclosed publicly.
