The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre has issued a yellow alert, the first level of danger.
У вівторок, 28 липня 2026 року, холодний атмосферний фронт принесе в Україну короткочасні дощі, грози та зниження температури. У частині областей очікуються значні опади, град і шквали до 15-20 м/с.

Short-lived showers are expected in most regions of Ukraine. In some places, the showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms.

Heavy rain is possible overnight in the Vinnytsia region. During the day, heavier rain is expected in the central regions, as well as in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the east and south-east, it will remain mainly dry overnight. During the day, the area of rain and thunderstorms will gradually shift towards the Left Bank.

Where a yellow danger level has been declared

On the afternoon of 28 July, thunderstorms are forecast in the north-eastern part of the country, most of the central regions, as well as in the Mykolaiv, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

In some areas, hail and squalls with wind speeds of 15–20 m/s are possible. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre has issued a yellow alert.

Such weather conditions may disrupt traffic and cause damage to trees, advertising structures and power lines.

Where will the strong winds be?

North-westerly winds of 7–12 m/s will prevail across Ukraine. In some parts of the western regions, gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are expected.

During a thunderstorm, you should keep well clear of large trees, advertising hoardings and power lines. Cars should not be left under old trees or unstable structures.

How much colder will it get in Ukraine?

Overnight, temperatures will range from +13 to +18 degrees, and in the western regions from +10 to +15.

During the day, temperatures in most regions are expected to range from +21 to +26 degrees. In the south-east, temperatures will reach +29 degrees.

By way of comparison, on 27 July, temperatures of between +27 and +32 degrees were forecast for most regions. Consequently, following the passage of the cold front, daytime temperatures will drop by around 5–8 degrees in some places.

Following the heatwave, temperatures in the capital will drop to around +22 degrees. The north-westerly wind will pick up.

When will the rain stop?
