A woman, whom the media had linked to the case of the attempted assassination of Vadym Yermolayev, was found dead near Kyiv
On 6 July, the body of a woman was found near Kyiv; according to UP’s sources within the law enforcement agencies, she was suspected of attempting to assassinate Vadym Yermolayev, a businessman subject to sanctions, in Monaco.
According to the sources, the body was found at around 11.00 pm on 6 July. The sources claim that the woman was shot dead.
Furthermore, according to law enforcement officials, the woman had been outside Ukraine from 22 March 2025 to 1 July 2026.
Another source within the law enforcement agencies reported that two suspects had been detained in connection with this case. One of them, according to this information, is a serving officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate, whilst the other is a former law enforcement officer.
On 6 July, the fourth instalment of the journalistic investigation ‘The Monaco Battalion’ was published, which, among other things, showed Vadym Yermolaev in Monaco a few days before the assassination attempt.
On 29 June at around 9.00 pm, an explosion occurred in Monaco, injuring three people. Two of them sustained very serious injuries. According to media reports, the victims included the Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev, who is subject to sanctions, and his relatives.
Following the explosion, law enforcement officers began searching for a man suspected of planting the explosive device. According to the investigation, he was captured on CCTV and is believed to have left Monaco, travelling to France.
Monaco subsequently reported that the theory of a terrorist attack had been ruled out. The Principality’s Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into attempted murder and the planting of an explosive device in a public place. Earlier, the media had also reported that the investigation was considering the possibility of involvement by the Security Service of Ukraine.
