In the Volyn region, an indictment has been filed against a 38-year-old woman suspected of selling her own young child. According to the investigation, she received 25,000 dollars for her 6-year-old son

This was reported by the Volyn Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigation: she agreed to sell her child in advance

According to law enforcement, in the spring of 2026, the woman decided to get rid of her son and found someone to whom she agreed to hand over the boy in return for money.

The investigation claims that the parties did not complete any legal procedures relating to adoption or the transfer of the child into care.

The woman was arrested after receiving the money

According to the case file, the handover of the child took place on 17 April in Lutsk. Immediately after receiving the agreed sum, the woman was arrested by law enforcement officers. She is currently in custody.

The case has already been referred to court

The prosecution accuses the woman of human trafficking involving a minor (Article 149(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court will consider the circumstances of the case in the near future.
