Reuters analytics: Transneft reduced oil pumping after drone strike
This was reported by The Public with reference to Reuters.
According to the agency's sources, the strike was carried out on the Kaleykino pumping station in Tatarstan, which serves the transportation of oil to Russian ports and the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Eastern European countries.
Reuters' interlocutors noted that the reduction in pumping amounts to about 250,000 barrels per day. The restrictions mainly affected oil supplies to Tatneft.
The attack on the station caused a fire. According to sources, two oil storage tanks with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes each caught fire.
The Kaleykino station is a key hub for transporting oil from Western Siberia and supplies the ports of Novorossiysk and Primorsk, as well as the Druzhba oil pipeline and Russian oil refineries.
Reuters sources note that the consequences of the attack are still being assessed, but the damage could affect the volume and quality of Russian oil exports amid sanctions imposed over Russia's war against Ukraine.
At the same time, local authorities reported that Russian air defence systems shot down several drones, and the debris caused a fire in an industrial area. Transneft and Tatneft did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
