Babish called the ammunition initiative the right one
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said that the government's ammunition initiative was generally the right step, but the question of the absence of corruption and abuse remains open. He said this after a government meeting on 22 December.
According to Babish, final conclusions should be made after receiving additional information. That is why the topic will be discussed at a meeting of the Czech Security Council scheduled for 7 January at 9 am. This will be the first meeting of the newly appointed Council after the formation of the government.
The Prime Minister stressed that he had discussed the munitions initiative with partners within the European Council. According to him, the Czech government expected more international support, which could strengthen the country's position in negotiations on peace and security in Europe.
The government also approved the composition of the State Security Council. It will include the Prime Minister, as well as the heads of the Ministries of Defence, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Industry, Justice and Transport. First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry Karel Havlicek is to be appointed deputy chairman of the council.
Earlier, Defence Minister Jaromír Zuna announced his intention to continue the ammunition initiative, but his political force later clarified that this issue had not been finally agreed upon.
