Safety and mental health: Olena Zelenska visited Ministry of Internal Affairs facilities
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
112 Service: inclusivity and new technologies
Olena Zelenska familiarised herself with the process of call handling by operators. Particular attention was paid to the accessibility of the service:
-
Multilingualism: in addition to Ukrainian and English, support is provided in German, French, Polish, Czech and Korean;
-
Inclusion: a video call function is available for people with hearing and speech impairments;
-
The ‘112 Ukraine’ app: a mobile application is available that allows users to call for help even when there is no network coverage.
The First Lady highlighted the role of veterans in the service’s work: currently, 20 veterans are working as operators in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Dnipro.
Situation Centre and mental health
The President’s wife visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Situation Centre, which monitors the security situation in the country around the clock and makes operational decisions.
The work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ psychological service was also presented, where 1,300 specialists assist soldiers in the combat zone, their families and former prisoners of war. The ministry’s psychologists actively collaborate with the ‘How Are You?’ programme, which is sponsored by the First Lady.
Olena Zelenska highlighted the ‘mental tutor’ project in particular. As part of this initiative, specialists receive additional training in evidence-based psychotherapy methods thanks to the support of international partners.
