Drones attacked the Gorky oil depot in the Nizhny Novgorod region
On the night of 23 April, drones struck the Gorky oil pumping station in the village of Meshikha, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russian Federation. This has been reported by sources, and information is also circulating in OSINT communities.
According to preliminary data, three oil tanks were damaged as a result of the strike. A large-scale fire covering an area of around 20,000 square metres broke out on the site.
The Gorky oil pumping station is a key component of the Russian Federation’s oil transport system and forms part of the Transneft – Upper Volga joint-stock company.
The station facilitates the transport of oil via trunk pipelines, notably along the Surgut–Gorky–Polotsk route, as well as the transfer of crude to domestic destinations, including the Lukoil oil refinery in Kstovo.
According to reports, the facility serves as both a main and an intermediate station and has one of the largest tank farms in the Russian Federation.
