Brenda Fricker, star of *Home Alone 2* and Oscar-nominated actress, has died

According to foreign media reports, Brenda Fricker had been suffering from health problems in recent years. The actress died aged 82.
“We will never see her like that again. The world is a worse place for her absence. It was an honour for me to know, love and work with her. She will always have a place in my heart and in the hearts of many film and television fans around the world,” said her agent, Phil Belfield.
Brenda Fricker became the first Irish actress to win an Oscar. In 1990, she was awarded the prize for her supporting role in the film *My Left Foot*.
She also played the role of the lady with the pigeons in the cult film *Home Alone 2*. Her character lived in New York’s Central Park and became a friend to young Kevin McCallister.
The star left behind dozens of roles and has gone down in the history of world cinema. In particular, she played nurse Megan Roach in the 1986 BBC television series *Nursing Woes*.
Her other films include *So I Married an Axe Murderer* (1993), *Angels in the Outfield* (1994), *A Time to Kill* (1996) and *Veronica Guerin* (2003).
