COMPLETE NAME DAY CALENDAR FOR JUNE 2026: who to wish a happy name day
A name day, or Angel Day, is the day commemorating the saint whose name a person bears. In the Christian tradition, this date is not linked to a person’s birthday, but to the church calendar and the veneration of one’s heavenly patron.
In Ukraine, Name Day is often celebrated within the family circle: people offer warm words of greeting, wishing the person health, peace, protection and spiritual strength. For many, it is a personal occasion that holds not only festive but also symbolic significance.
Why there can be several name days in a year
The same name may appear in the church calendar several times a year. This is because different saints with the same or similar names are honoured on different days.
For example, names such as Ivan, Petro, Vasyl, Oleksandr, Maria or Hanna appear in the calendar more than once. Therefore, a person may have several name days throughout the year.
Usually, the date of the saint’s feast day closest to one’s birthday is considered the main name day. At the same time, families may have their own traditions for celebrating.
Why it is important to consider the calendar style
Following the calendar reform in Ukraine, some churches use the New Julian calendar. As a result, the dates of many non-movable feasts and saints’ days have shifted 13 days earlier.
This is why different sources sometimes list different name day dates – according to the new or old style. This article presents a calendar of name days for June 2026 according to the new style.

How to choose your Name Day
If a name appears several times in the calendar, people usually choose the date closest to their birthday.
You can also go by the saint after whom the person was named at their christening. If this is known, the feast day of that saint is considered the main name day.
If there is no precise information, you can simply congratulate the person on one of the dates when their name appears in the calendar.
How to wish someone a happy Name Day
On a name day, it is customary to wish not only happiness and good health, but also spiritual support, peace, the protection of a heavenly patron, and inner strength.
A short greeting might sound like this: “Happy Name Day. May your heavenly patron watch over you, and may your life be filled with more peace, joy and good news.”
For a loved one, you can add a personal touch: thank them for their support, wish them success in their endeavours and remind them that they are valued.
