In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at an oil depot following a drone attack on the night of 16 June. The blaze started at the facility in the village of Poltavskaya.

In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the village of Poltavskaya, Krasnoarmeysky District, following a night-time drone attack, the BBC reports.

The region’s emergency response headquarters stated that the fire was caused by debris from a downed drone. According to official reports, there were no casualties. Thirty-two people and seven pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire. Following the attack, the road between the village of Poltavskaya and the hamlet of Trudobelikovskoye was temporarily closed.

The Poltavskaya oil depot receives products from oil refineries, including Lukoil facilities, and then distributes them to petrol stations in the Krasnodar Krai and Adygea. The village of Poltavskaya is located approximately 80 kilometres west of Krasnodar and about 385 kilometres from the front line.

According to Russian sources, a petrol shortage arose in the Krasnodar Krai as early as the beginning of June. The regional operational headquarters reported a lack of fuel at over 500 petrol stations, which purchase it in small wholesale quantities without long-term contracts with suppliers.

It is noted that fuel supply problems have been recorded in more than 25 regions of Russia. Restrictions on petrol sales have also appeared in major cities, notably in Moscow and St Petersburg.

TelegramThe ASTRA channel, citing the Russian Ministry of Defence, reported that between 20:00 on 15 June and 07:00 on 16 June, air defence forces allegedly shot down 172 drones over regions of Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea. The ministry stated that drones had been shot down over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Oryol, Tambov, Tula, Rostov and Ryazan regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Krai, and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.

After 07:00, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that 21 drones had been destroyed in the Moscow region. In total, he reported 35 drones shot down that morning.

As previously reported by ThePublic, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in Moscow following the drone attack.
