What deferrals will military personnel receive under the new contracts?
This was announced by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence.
Deferrals are provided for military personnel who will be signing new contracts as part of the transformation of military service.
The minimum guaranteed deferral period following the end of a contract will be six months. However, this may be significantly extended depending on combat experience and previous service.
What deferral is provided under an infantry assault contract
Upon completion of an infantry assault contract, the soldier will receive a guaranteed basic deferment of six months.
The following will be added:
– three months for each month of combat duty;
– six months for each year of service from 2022 until the signing of a new contract;
– one month for each year of service up to 2022.
This contract is intended for infantrymen, assault troops, combat medics, gunners, driver-mechanics and other military personnel in combat units.
How long will the service last
For civilians, the infantry-assault contract is concluded for 14 months.
For serving military personnel – for 10 months.
For military personnel who have already been discharged from service during the special period, it is for a minimum of six months.
How the system will work in practice
The Ministry of Defence gave an example: if a civilian signed a 14-month contract and carried out combat duties for four months, they will receive a one-and-a-half-year deferment upon completion of service.
For military personnel with long service records, this period may be significantly longer due to additional bonuses for years of service.
What deferral will apply under combat and basic contracts
Combat and basic contracts provide for 24 months of service.
Upon completion, a guaranteed six-month deferral will also be granted.
The following will also be taken into account:
– one day’s deferral for each day spent on combat duties;
– one month for every year of service up to 2022.
Which roles are covered by the contracts
The combat contract will apply to UAV pilots, operators of ground-based robotic systems, electronic warfare specialists, artillerymen and other military combat specialities.
The basic contract is intended for military personnel in non-combat and logistical roles.
What else will change
Along with the new contracts, the Ministry of Defence plans to change the pay system.
For infantrymen, the average pay is expected to be around 300,000 hryvnias per month, with a maximum of up to 460,000 hryvnias. Additional payments for carrying out combat missions are also provided for.
