England dropped points in their match against Ghana in the second round of the 2026 World Cup
The England national team drew with Ghana in their second Group L match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, USA, ended 0–0.
England had a clear advantage in terms of shots on goal. The team had 19 shots, three of which were on target. Ghana responded with two shots, only one of which was on target.
England had their best chance to snatch victory late in the match. In the 86th minute, Nico O’Reilly headed the ball against the crossbar, and Harry Kane’s follow-up shot went over the bar.
In the first round of Group L, England beat Croatia 4–2, whilst Ghana narrowly defeated Panama 1–0.
After the second matchday, England and Ghana top the Group L table, both on four points. Panama and Croatia remain without any points so far.
In the final third round, England will face Panama, whilst Ghana will take on Croatia. Both matches will take place on 28 June at 00:00 Kyiv time.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from 11 June to 19 July in the USA, Mexico and Canada. This is the first World Cup to feature 48 national teams. All teams are divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, as well as the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16.
