Following a drone attack, the Engels-2 airfield, from which Russian bombers take off, is on fire
On the night of 16 July, residents of the Saratov Region reported numerous explosions during a drone attack.
According to monitoring Telegram channels, which carried out an OSINT analysis of photos and video footage, a fire broke out at the Engels 2 military airfield following the attack.
According to Astra, one of the drones struck a multi-storey residential block located approximately two kilometres from the military airfield’s runway.
Local residents also reported power cuts following a series of explosions. However, there has been no official confirmation of this information.
Roman Busargin, Governor of the Saratov Region, confirmed the drone attack and stated that civilian infrastructure in Engels had been damaged. According to him, there are no reported casualties at this stage. He did not mention a fire at the military airfield, where Russian heavy bombers are based. This report is being updated.
