Russian troops have attacked a number of regions in Ukraine; there are casualties
Odesa Region
On the morning of 16 July, Russian troops attacked Odesa. According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, an educational institution was damaged. Further details of the attack are being ascertained.
A Day of Mourning has also been declared in the city for the three people who died as a result of the Russian strike the previous day.
Zaporizhzhia Region
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have carried out 974 strikes on 56 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.
According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, seven people were killed and a further 20 were injured as a result of attacks on Zaporizhzhia, the Zaporizhzhia district and the Polohiv district.
The regional authorities received 147 reports of damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, farm buildings and vehicles.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Russian drones attacked three districts in the region.
A fire broke out in Kryvyi Rih, and infrastructure facilities were damaged.
In the Petropavlivka community of the Synelnykivskyi district, private homes and a car were damaged.
In the Nikopol district, the town of Nikopol came under attack.
Kharkiv Oblast
In Kharkiv, an attack by strike drones caused a fire in an outbuilding on private property in the Nemyshlyanskyi district. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Buildings in the central park and civilian infrastructure facilities were also damaged. Strikes were recorded in open areas of Kharkiv and its suburbs.
According to Oleg Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Kharkiv and a further 23 settlements in the region came under Russian attack over the past 24 hours. Eighteen people were injured, including a 16-year-old boy.
Nine people were wounded in Kharkiv. There were also casualties in Yurivka in the Velykoburlutsk community, Husynka in the Kindrashiv community, Shevchenkove and Bohodukhiv.
According to Synyegubov, Russian forces used three guided aerial bombs, five ‘Geran-2’ drones, eleven ‘Molniya’ UAVs, twelve FPV drones and 44 drones, the type of which is yet to be determined.
In Kharkiv, damage was caused to blocks of flats, an administrative and industrial building, an industrial hangar, a pharmacy warehouse, a civilian enterprise, a cinema, tennis courts and cars.
Damage has also been reported in the Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, Kharkiv, Lozova and Chuhuiv districts.
In addition, the transit evacuation centre in Lozova received 213 people over the past 24 hours.
Kherson region
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops shelled 33 settlements in the region.
According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, one person was killed and a further 19 were injured.
Three people were evacuated from the region’s de-occupied communities.
Donetsk region
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops killed three residents of the Donetsk region.
According to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, all three of the deceased were residents of Yasna Polyana.
A further 14 people were injured.
