France and Morocco will kick off the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup
On Thursday, 9 July, the quarter-final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, gets underway.
The first quarter-final match will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, USA. The national teams of France and Morocco will kick off at 23:00 Kyiv time.
The French team qualified for the knockout stages as group I winners. During the group stage, they beat Senegal 3–1, Iraq 3–0 and Norway 4–1. In the round of 32, France beat Sweden 3–0, and in the round of 16, they defeated Paraguay 1–0.
Morocco finished the group stage in second place in Group C. The team drew 1–1 with Brazil, beat Scotland 1–0 and Haiti 4–2. In the round of 32, Morocco beat the Netherlands on penalties following a 1–1 draw in normal time, and in the round of 16, they thrashed Canada 3–0.
Morocco’s unbeaten run across all competitions currently stands at 34 matches. During this period, the team have recorded 25 wins and nine draws.
The winner of the match between France and Morocco will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium.
The other World Cup quarter-final fixtures are Norway v England and Argentina v Switzerland.
