Elon Musk has filed a new court petition calling for the dismissal of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman.

This is according to Bloomberg.

As part of the lawsuit, which is due to be heard by a jury in April, the entrepreneur is calling for the restructuring of the ChatGPT developer.

The main aim of the lawsuit is to restore the company’s status as a non-profit research organisation and prevent its transformation into a private business.

The conflict stems from accusations that OpenAI and Microsoft have betrayed the startup’s original mission. Musk claims that securing billions in investment has transformed the public charitable organisation into a tool for enrichment.

Previously, the billionaire estimated potential losses at $134 billion and stated that these funds should be directed towards charity.

In response, OpenAI representatives described Musk’s actions as a smear campaign driven by envy and a desire to stifle a competitor.

The conflict has escalated amid calls from the start-up’s strategic director to investigate Musk’s own conduct for anti-competitive behaviour.

The legal battle could result in a complete overhaul of the company’s management, which is currently preparing to raise new capital and potentially list on the US stock market.
