In Kryvyi Rih, law enforcement officers detained a man who, whilst investigative measures were being carried out, threatened police officers and resisted arrest. A separate criminal case has been opened in connection with this incident

The incident was reported to the Kryvyi Rih District Police Department.

Threats made during an inspection

The incident took place on 3 July. Police officers, together with members of the Military Law Enforcement Service, were carrying out procedural actions as part of criminal proceedings concerning unauthorised absence from a military unit.

Whilst the law enforcement officers were carrying out their duties, a man began to argue with them. According to the investigation, he refused to comply with lawful orders, behaved aggressively and produced an object resembling a hunting rifle, which he used to threaten those present.

He was detained on the same day

Following the incident, law enforcement officers carried out special operations, as a result of which the man was detained. He was taken to the police station in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

In addition to investigating the case of unauthorised absence from a military unit, investigators have launched a further criminal case concerning threats made against law enforcement officers whilst they were carrying out their official duties.

The investigation is ongoing

Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident and determining the origin of the object with which the man threatened the police officers. Once the initial investigative measures have been completed, a decision will be made regarding the further legal classification of his actions.
