Fatal road accident in the Mykolaiv region: 12 dead and six injured

What is known about the accident
The road traffic accident occurred on 4 July between the villages of Krasne and Nechayane. According to law enforcement officials, the 49-year-old driver of the minibus and eight passengers were killed at the scene as a result of the collision. A further nine people, including the lorry driver and passengers aged between 15 and 67, were hospitalised.
As of 11.30 am, three more victims had died in hospital. This brings the death toll from the accident to 12, with a further six remaining under medical supervision.
Police have located the driver of the Nissan Murano
Whilst inspecting the scene of the accident and gathering evidence, law enforcement officers established that, according to preliminary data, the driver of the Nissan Murano had veered into the oncoming lane, where a minibus was travelling, which may have caused the accident. He then left the scene.
The police carried out a special operation to track him down. A few hours later, the Nissan Murano was stopped on the Blahovishchenske–Mykolaiv road. A 45-year-old man from another region was behind the wheel. Investigators, forensic experts and operational officers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy. The legal classification of the crossover driver’s actions is also being determined.
