Israel has announced that it has killed Iran’s intelligence minister in a strike on Tehran
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has stated that Iran’s intelligence minister, Ismail Khatib, was killed in an overnight air strike on Tehran.
“The intensity of the strikes on Iran is increasing. Iran’s intelligence minister, Hatib, was also killed last night,” Katz said.
He also stated that “significant surprises” are expected, which will intensify the war against Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to Katz, he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have authorised the elimination of any senior Iranian officials without further approval.
Iran has neither officially confirmed nor denied reports of Ismail Hatib’s death.
Ismail Khatib had headed Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence since 2021 and was part of the country’s inner circle of leadership. Previously, he had held positions in the security apparatus, the judiciary and the office of the Supreme Leader.
