Командир ЗСУ відправив бійців на ремонти родичам: ДБР оголосило підозру
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.
Officers from the SBI, in conjunction with the Internal Affairs Department of the National Police and the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have exposed the commander of a military unit who, according to the investigation, enlisted subordinate servicemen to carry out renovation and construction work on private properties belonging to his relatives and on properties he himself used.
According to the investigation, this scheme had been in operation since September 2024. Law enforcement officials believe that the officer used seven military personnel to carry out repairs at his daughter’s and ex-wife’s flat in Cherkasy, at his sister’s house in the Cherkasy region, and at a flat in the Kyiv region used by the commander himself.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) claims that to conceal this, the commander reported to his superiors that the soldiers were at the unit and performing their duties. In reality, according to the bureau, they were working on his family’s private properties.
Separately, the investigation states that even a children’s playground, which was supposed to be used by the children of military personnel, ended up on the commander’s property.
Despite the fact that, according to law enforcement, the soldiers were involved in renovation work instead of performing their duties, they continued to be paid their salaries by the unit during this time.
The unit commander has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official position – as well as under Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – organising and committing, by prior conspiracy, evasion of military service by a group of persons.
The servicemen who, according to the investigation, were carrying out repairs instead of performing their duties, were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – evasion of military service committed by a group of persons acting in collusion under martial law.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) noted that the offences carry a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment. The case
is being prosecuted by the Specialised Prosecutor’s Office for Defence in the Central Region.
