The Ukrainian FireFighters Foundation has held the latest round of its regular off-road training sessions for rescue drivers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The training is designed to improve crews’ skills in navigating difficult terrain, enabling them to rescue people quickly

The Ukrainian FireFighters Foundation announced this on its Facebook page

The project is being implemented with the support of the international charitable foundation Nova Ukraine.

The training focused on vehicle stability and control in extreme conditions: deep ruts, unstable surfaces and sudden changes in terrain.

Key skills mastered by the drivers:

  • Driving techniques: controlling the vehicle when traction is lost and using four-wheel drive correctly.

  • Safety: navigating difficult sections without risk to the crew or equipment.

  • Mental resilience: making quick decisions in stressful situations.

Why this is important

In real-life operations, ‘minor details’ on the road can cost precious time. Through regular training, rescue workers hone the skills that allow them to reach the scene of an emergency as quickly and safely as possible, even in the complete absence of roads.

The organisers would like to thank their partners and everyone who helps to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian firefighters.
