IAEA announces local 'window of silence' for repair of ZNPP power lines
Repairs of a key power line have begun near Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant after another agreement on a localised ceasefire was reached with the mediation of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The agency reported this in the social network X.
According to the IAEA, work to restore power supply between the distribution substations of ZNPP and Zaporizhzhya heat and power plant has already started and, according to preliminary estimates, will last several days. The agency's team directly monitors the progress of repairs on site.
IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi thanked both sides for agreeing to a new temporary window of silence. The agency stressed that the restoration of stable power supply is critical to improving nuclear safety at Europe's largest nuclear power plant.
